Golden Community Rodeo - Wednesdays thru June 10

Golden Bike Shop is sponsoring the Golden Community Rodeo series again this year. They are on Wednesdays thru June 10th. Check out details here: http://www.eddyflower.com/EventDetail.aspx?EventId=86

The Golden Community Rodeo is a grass-roots effort that brings together whitewater enthusiasts, local residents and businesses, and industry representatives to participate in this community event. The GCR is organized, managed, and run exclusively by local volunteers whose common characteristic is the hope that all levels of boaters will feel welcomed at this event – from the meekest “newbie” to the local heroes. Our goal is to provide fun events where everyone is welcome, and everyone is supported.

Each year this series has grown, with each event attended by 40+ paddlers and 50+ spectators. The original organizers worked hard to get the local community involved and have encouraged all paddlers to take ownership of this event by competing and working to plan and organize the event. The results are tremendous! We now have a supportive group of local boaters who are working hard to put together the logistics and gather prizes to offer to our competitors and spectators.

GBS Crew in the Steamboat Pilot Newspaper

The GBS crew was in Fruita for the Fat Tire Festival. The Steamboat Pilot snapped an action pic for their paper. We were riding with the guys from Salsa (based in Minnesota) and Freeze Thaw Cycles out of Pennsylvania.

That's the new Big Mamma Full Suspension 29er I'm on - it was perfect out there for those all day rides (Friday was a 7hr day).

Here's the article http://www.steamboatpilot.com/news/2009/apr/26/fruita_mountain_biking_trails_far_cry_stillmuddy_s/

Sun May 3rd Pivot Demo Update

The Pivot Cycles trailer is at Golden Bike Shop today - stop in and take out a free demo bike and see what all of the "Pivot Buzz" is all about.

We've also heard from riders this AM that the Belcher Hill trail at White Ranch is in good shape. As we're all scrambling to find trails to ride while in this rainy season, drop us a line and let us know what you are finding out there.

We especially would like to encourage you to be respectful of area trails and not ride them if you will be causing damage!

Centennial Cone Trail Update 4/30/09

April 30, 2009 Centennial Cone Trail Update:

Kyle (in pics) & I rode from the North Parking lot (Golden Gate Canyon entrance) past the bridge for a total of aprx 8 miles out. Trail was in fantastic condition - tacky in places / totally dry in others. The storms over the last few weeks had brought some trees down - most of that had been cleaned up as well - the only two major blockages are shown in the pics - trail crew has done a great job with clean up!
